Sixth grade students are currently working with a team from Marders Landscaping and Design to design a plan for landscaping for the front of the school. Recently, students Nick Lombardo, Hayden Edwards, Caleb Wright, Colin Wright, Kevin Chabla, Hannah Hartsough, Bella Tarbet, Evan Mendelman, Morgan Grant and Brody Eggert have been working on plans which will include more natural trees and shrubs, indigenous to the area and which will include fall and spring color.  "We want to echo what we've been doing in the courtyard area of the school," said advisor and Academic Enrichment teacher Mrs. O'Connor. "We'd like to have a natural landscape. What was there before wasn't natural to the area and mimicked a 1950s look." Student Colin Wright commented that his ideas include planting flowers in addition to shrubs and bushes. "We researched at what times the area is shaded and what times it has sun, so we can choose flowers that will bring color," he said. "We're thinking sunflowers and tulips will look nice."  In the coming weeks, a watering system of soaker hoses on timers will be installed. Although it may look bare right now, we're looking forward to beautiful new plantings in the upcoming weeks!
