Students celebrated St. Patrick's Day throughout the school on Thursday, March 17th. Kindergartners came to school in the morning to find that leprechauns had made a mess of their classrooms - and not one leprechaun trap had caught one! Mrs. Hicks' kindergarten class ate a "pot of gold" lunch (which was chicken fingers and french fries), and made green "leprechaun hat" cupcakes for snack! Reading teacher Mrs. Vickers visiting Mrs. LaMonda's Functional Academics class to make a traditional Irish lunch of corned beef, cabbage, Irish soda bread, and even a "baked potato bar" that included fixins' like sour cream, cheese, and bacon bits. Music teacher Ms. Modica also visited Mrs. LaMonda's class and played traditional Irish music as students kept the beat by playing along. In Mrs. Diaz's first grade class, parent Siobhan McMillian came in to help students make St. Patrick's Day "rainbow windsocks!" They also read about Ireland and learned about the history of the holiday.
