Ms. Farmer's Sixth Graders Hold a Greek Celebration!

"If you can’t bring students to Greece, bring Greece to Springs!" so says sixth grade Social Studies teacher Ms. Farmer. Students celebrated the completion of their unit on Greece by holding a Greek celebration! Students immersed themselves in Greek culture by using Greek terms, dressing in traditional toga attire and learning how to dance the "Zorba." In addition, students tasted traditional Greek foods such as Greek salad, grapes, pita bread with tzatziki sauce, and Greek yogurt with honey and cinnamon. "Congratulations to Hassan Noman and Derek Guazhambo for rising to the challenge of learning and reciting the Greek alphabet!" said Ms. Farmer. At the end of their celebration, students said, "Efharisto!" or "thank you," in Greek.
