Students in Ms. Thayer and Mrs. Steudte's fifth grade class are learning about historical figures during their historical fiction reading unit of study. "We were sparked by so many historical figures who made an impact on the world so we decided to make our figures come to life," said Ms. Thayer. Their class created a “Living Wax Museum" - students chose a historical figure, researched, wrote and rehearsed oral presentations, dressed in costumes with accompanying props as well as created posters for display.  Some historical figures included; Martin Luther King Jr., Ruby Bridges, Helen Keller, The Wright Brothers, Charles Darwin, Coco Chanel, Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson, Anne Frank and Walt DIsney.  "Not only did we learn a lot about important people of the past, but we had a lot of fun too!" said Ms. Thayer.
