Eighth  graders attended the annual eighth grade retreat at Camp Quinipet on Shelter Island recently. The purpose of the retreat is to provide group and individual experiences that aim to increase self-esteem, confidence, and problem-solving skills through a "Project Adventure"-type experience. The retreat encourages positive peer influences through team-building activities, allowing students to use effective communication techniques and problem solving strategies that can be used throughout life. "Students were able to push their own limits by working together in groups to accomplish a task, which enabled them to build self-confidence and strengthen interpersonal skills," said eighth grade science teacher and organizer Ms. Pannizzo. Even Mr. Casale joined the group for this great experience!
