Seventh graders in Ms. Larkin’s FACS class (Family and Consumer Science) took part in the “Marshmallow Challenge.” The students who could build the highest tower out of marshmallows and toothpicks wins, but this challenge has a twist: each bag of marshmallows and toothpicks came with a level of education and restrictions on what they could do. “High school dropouts could only use one hand and all communication must be non-verbal to represent limited skills and education while students who picked the bag with the Doctorate degree had no limitations placed on them,” explained Ms. Larkin. “They all gave it a great try but in the end, the students with the higher education won. It was a little sticky but a fun lesson!”
