Springs School seventh grader Perla Mancilla won the Grand Prize for The Independent newspaper's annual "Boo!" scary story contest! For only the second time (last year was the first), a Springs School student won the Grand Prize. Perla won for her story, "Sophie."  Seventh grader Chloe Swickard won second place in the seventh and eighth grade category for her story, “Clockwork Child.” Both stories were published in the current issue, and both students won trophies!

“I am very proud of the effort that the seventh graders put into their short stories for the Boo! Contest,” said seventh grade English teacher Adam Osterweil. "There was an incredible variety of creative and imaginative entries. Congratulations to the winners!” Perla’s and Chloe’s stories, along with the other winning stories, can be read in the newspaper, or by clicking here.
