Our Bonac Bowlers once again reached for the gold at the Special Olympics Bowling tournament in Patchogue this past weekend! "We are so very proud of how hard our athletes and their teachers work to be able to participate in Special Olympic events like today," said Coach and Occupational Therapist Whitney Reidlinger. "There were plenty of smiles, laughs, and medals to go around!"

86 bowlers from all over Long Island competed in this annual event. Liam Baum, Jacob Deleg, Matthew Schmitt brought home Gold, Tristian Hydeman and Sean Lester won Silver, Dominic Coronel and Juliana Figueroa won Bronze. Congratulations, athletes! The Springs team was coached by teacher Mrs. LaMonda, Speech teacher Mrs. Philipbar, and P.E. teachers Mr. Colavito and Ms. Crowley. Special thanks to the East Hampton Kiwanis Club who donated lunch, and Bowl Long Island in Patchogue that donated the bowling alley.

The next event will be the 2018 Special Olympics Long Island Spring Games on Sunday, May 6th at Hampton Bays High School from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Athletes will compete in Track and Field and Tennis events. It's a great outdoor event and everyone is encouraged to come out and cheer on our Springs School athletes! Please contact Mrs. Reidlinger if you're interested in volunteering.
