Those who live on the East End are quite familiar with Lyme Disease. To raise awareness for this disease, and to promote ways to prevent it, fifth graders in Ms. Thayer and Ms. Belkin's class took the "Take a Bite out Lyme Disease Challenge." The challenge, which is similar to the "Ice Bucket Challenge," raises awareness, and funds for Lyme Disease diagnosis and treatment. The idea came from student Ella Eggert, who has family members affected by Lyme Disease. Ella wanted to bring awareness to the seriousness of the disease. Her parents pledged $250 ($10 per student) for the class, and they took the challenge on May 9th. They will be "challenging" another class soon!
