Last week, eighth  graders attended the annual eighth grade retreat at Camp Quinipet in Shelter Island. The purpose of the retreat is to provide group and individual experiences that aim to increase self-esteem and confidence through a "Project Adventure"-type experience. The retreat encourages positive peer influences through team-building activities, allowing students to use effective communication techniques and problem solving strategies that can be used throughout life. "The retreat empowers each student to reach his/her true potential and master the skills to succeed in life," said guidance counselor Stacy McCally. Mrs. McCally, eighth grade teachers, Mr. Jones, and Coach King joined the students in this memorable event. Eighth grade teacher and advisor Brittny Pannizzo organized this great event.
