Last Saturday, three Springs School Robotics teams headed to Huntington for the Robotics qualifier. Students competed against around thirty other Long Island teams in a variety of activities. At the center of the competition was the Robot Challenge, in which students built a robot and coded it to complete different missions. Since this year marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, the theme of the competition was "Into Orbit," and all missions were related to challenges that future generations will encounter in space travel! Students used their robots to adjust solar panels on moon bases, or manipulate delicate machines like 3D printers. In addition to the Robot challenge, students researched problems and related to space travel, developed solutions to these problems, and presented them at the competition. All students involved worked so hard to prepare for the qualifier, and their efforts showed! What a talented and dedicated group of students. A great thank you to all who made this program possible.
