Dear Parents and Staff,


Attached, please find a suggested plan for the days the students will be at home engaging in digital learning.  Keep in mind that we are recommending a routine, and not a schedule. We are recommending that student work in chunks. It is easier for children to learn and work in specific time blocks instead of individual subjects. Please keep in mind that children do not need to complete all the work in one sitting.  Academic work should be spread out over time. We do not want students to be anxious or overwhelmed.  On a final note, sometimes it helps to live with your plan a while before finalizing it. The most effective plans are personalized to the need of the student/child and consistent.

 Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF - Sag Harbor) today announced that ProHEALTH has opened a drive-thru COVID-19 testing facility in Riverhead, its first in Suffolk County. Drive-thru testing at the Riverhead facility is by appointment only and is open to all, not limited to ProHEALTH Primary Care patients. Individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and wishing to speak to a medical professional, or who wish to make an appointment at the Riverhead drive-thru testing facility, can call the ProHEALTH dedicated hotline at 1-516-874-0411. The Riverhead drive-thru testing site is located at:

Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Saturday–Sunday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m

Mortgage Relief Options.

Federal and state governments have announced plans to help struggling homeowners during this time.  For many homeowners with mortgages, there is help, but first assess your situation.

If you can pay your mortgage, then pay your mortgage.

Do not call your mortgage servicer if you are not facing an immediate issue.

Mortgage servicers are getting a lot of calls and need to first help those who won't be able to pay their mortgage. Check their website first for possible options.

If you can NOT pay your mortgage, or can only pay a portion, contact your mortgage servicer immediately.

It may take a while to get a loan servicer on the phone, due to high call volume.  Please be sure to read this blog carefully so you are prepared for this conversation.

A new federal law, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, puts in place 2 protections for homeowners with federally backed mortgages:

1. A foreclosure moratorium
2. A right to forbearance for homeowners who are experiencing a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 emergency.

If you do not have a federally backed mortgage, you still may have relief options through your mortgage servicer or from your state.
